Please Help the worse fisherman on the planet....

Need some help;
I've been fishing from a boat on the lakes near my house,; shady, shadow & desire...moslty desire
I haven't caught squat! I actualy had a nible the other day, but no fish. I never grew up fishing so I have no clue as to what I'm doing wrong.

I've been fishing off the bottom with an egg sinker and a leader of about 2'. Small hook and worm as biat.
I've been driftiing with no luck at all. Time of day is the evening, I get started around 6:00 PM
Any help would be great-- I plan to go back out Tuesday.

well, first off we need to know your target fish. Secondly you need to check to see what the fishing is like for that fish. WDFW website does a good job (for the most part) on their lake discpriptions. Try this link Fishing Prospects

What lake are you fishing at,in what county?

Lake Desire, King County.
I think it is a realatively shallow lake-- no deeper thatn 25 ft or so.

If you have to fish the bottom, try different depths. Take a look at the depth maps on the Reports for the lake. Pay attention to where you are. Also, try some of what people report are successfull. I do Shady about once a week, and all I've used to catch my limit each time is some berkley honey worms above the hook, with a orange power egg on the hook. I troll this across the bottom of Shady and usually get bites atleast every few minutes. I personally have never caught anything at desire, or shadow, so perhaps you can find the magic recipe for those and get back to me. I'll be trying shadow soon, hopefully its ready for me.

I was at desire the other day, we got skunked fishing off the public dock. But we talked to a group of 3 guys who were trolling, they said they caught 12 between the 3 of them using wedding rings and worm. We were also at shady the other day and we caught a few fish from the boat ramp, casting out as far as we could, using green and orange power eggs. We were told to troll a woolly buger on leaded line.

One last thought for you. Consider making friends with someone you see coming off the lake with fish. Most of us that fish by ourselves don't mind teaching someone. You might make a life-long friend in the process.

Personally, I take out new people all the time on the East Side of the State. Just two rules, no alcohol and no smoking on my boat.

My point is , if you like catching fish consider all species . You would be surprized on how learning to target one species can and will help you to understand other species of fish .. Bass fishing is as hard or as easy as you make it .. alot of guys find one or two baits that they have confidence in and stick with that . Some guys dont go out on the with nothing less than four poles rigged up , iv seen guys with 12 poles on there deck .. my suggestion is information first then fish .. read as much as you can about bass fishing and then give it a go ..BBD:bounce:

I just under 10" and one 6" that I would of thrown back but he was hooked pretty good.
