Lake Sammamish bank access

Post by relfen » Mon Apr 27, 2009 11:41 am

Can anyone tell me where abouts the public bank access is? I haven't fished sammamish before and was hoping to check it out before the derby. I went down to the park last week and found a public swimming area but couldn't seem to locate an obvious fishing spot. Maybe I was just being especially dense that day :P

Thanks!

Lake Sammamish is the most restricted large lake in terms of public angler access that I have ever encountered. There is only one public boat launch for motorized craft and the bank angling opportunities are almost as limited. The State park has water access but no fishing docks/piers other than the launches. In the State park you'll want to hike or wade to avoid the swimming areas. On the North end you have Marymoor park with one small dock and then Idlywood park, just South of Marymoor, has a dock from which you may fish and you can launch small non-motorized water craft as well. There may be some other areas or secret spots, but I have not bothered to put in the effort to find them.

Good Luck!

Alot of people use the boat launch docks if it isnt to busy or... there is a point that you can access between the Park and the launch. Goto the park and stay to the right when you enter. Go all the way to the end and park by the bathrooms. Cross the bridge by the bathrooms and turn left, walk down the path for a bit and you'll come out at the inlet, the point there is a great place to fish. Bring waders if you want, you can wade out close to the dropoff.

Hey you can try to run down to Idylwood Park it's in the Northend, you're allowed to fish that dock. People are always swimming and jumping off it when it's sunny but if it's quiet i've caught alot of perch and a few bass off of it. Have fun.
