You are probably using the "quick reply" insead of the "add reply" at the bottom right hand side of the page. The "quick reply" doesn't have the option of adding images or web pages but the "add reply" does.

RE:2009 Ling Cod Season
I went down to Edmonds Pier and from what I gathered only one ling was caught ...just barley legal and another one just under the legal size. Most people left at low water and were starting to return just before high water. That's when I left...I could see what was coming and wanted no part of it. The rain started coming down just as I got home and all I could think about was that poor guy on Edmonds Pier in a wheelchair in all that rain. It became a nasty high water and I was glad to be home. I didn't have any real substantual bites. The guys next to me had a few bites but no fish.....We all were using rootbeer jigs...An old guy at the corner was catching little perch and said that they were pretty good eating...they were all about 3 inches long and he had about 30 of them. Maybe next time at the pier will be a winner. Hope your day went better,:thumright Steve
Fly Fishing is the art of attaching a fake bug to a line and relying on the appropriate manipulation of the rod to deceive the fish into eating a sharp steel hook covered with feathers and fur.

RE:2009 Ling Cod Season
does it really matter what color flakes the grub has in it jeesh:scratch:
I fish mostly deeper water were in my opinion you could use a bright pink or black grub and still catch the same # of fish.
when fishing in kelp beds or water shallower than 60ft I use a 30lb powerpro on my heavy spinning rod. I either use herring on a 2ft leader with a 3oz crescent weight or i use a 1 or 2oz jig with an 8in green or black or brown rubbertail.

42" releaser 200 ft with live bait (spreader bar) (twilight)
38.5" keeper 50ft 2oz dark jig (mid day sunny)
(both I have seen)
Where light reaches bottom, flakes WORK
Where light doesn't reach bottom, vibe + smell + Glow (color) works. All depends on the situation. Nice work on opener again ll, I gotta post a keeper by friday for sure!! :bounce:
