Boating, Fishing, Camping Lake Chelan
Hello Fellow Anglers!
Not sure if this is the right place to post.
Looking for a good place to go on lake Chelan where I can put the boat in and camp and fish.
I will have a tent and one guy with a truck with a slide in camper. Can anyone recommend any good places to go?
As far as fishing the lake, I dont have down riggers, so what kind of fishing can be done out there? Any good places?
Thanks in advance

The state parks are great at Chelan, check this URL http://www.parks.wa.gov/ Both Lake Chelan and 25 Mile are great . The link will get yo Reservations and availibility. As for fishing the Kokanee are really in by Lakeside Park. ( that is behind the Best Western Motel) Been fish for the in 50' water and the catch is usually at 20 - 35. Most use Mack Wedding bands and some attractor in front ( dodger, pop gear or Mack Lites). tip the hooks wit powerbait maggots

If you want to run deeper without adding a lot of extra weight to you line, you might look into using a deep six (Cabela's link). My Dad used to use them successfully. I've never tried it, but picked up a couple at Joe's clearance sale cuz I don't have a downrigger either.
RE:Boating, Fishing, Camping Lake Chelan
The Kokanee are in right now West of Lakeside Park in 20 to 40 foot of water. You will see the flotilla of boats in this bay area. I counted 28 boats yesterday) Start trolling early in the morning by 6:00 am. After about 9:00 am the sun is up high and the fish start to spread out, go deep and you'll have trouble finding them.
Using a Macks Wedding Ring Spinner with Macks Flash Lites trollers. Troll as close to the bottom as you can. Bait the hook with a single piece of White Shoepeg Corn. (Any other kind of corn will not work) and because you don't have downriggers use the style of weight pictured below in about 2 to 3 ounces.
Good Luck

Swede
You are really good. 6'5" and 320 just this morning.
Did you used to work in a carnival guessing weight? :jocolor:
We did switch over to Bass fishing later in the day. My buddy hooked up a couple of times and I brought a nice five incher to the boat using some kinda fuzzy brown worm Texas rigged. I think after I get back from Penn State we'll head back out and try to get into the Bass. I hear there's some big ones in there.

Back in the day...maybe. I’ve got bad knees, a bad back and a bad shoulder.
Too much time in the service and way too many chronic health issues. I’m workin on dropping another 20 or 30.
Don’t tell the bad guys…they still think I’m a bad a$$

Wow thanks for the good fishing info. Unfortunately the campsites are all booked. Was hoping someone had a "secret" site, or some place they could tell me about. Thanks anyways. I have decided to go to Ross Lake and see whats going on out there.
