Riffe Lake

Post by jbball50 » Wed May 27, 2009 3:35 pm

I was just wondering if the fishing up by the Tacoma Power Park Camp Boat Launch was doing any good for the trout in a boat, my dad and I were thinking about going fishing at Riffe Lake tomorrow and it seems like the fishing hasn't been that great from the reports. Also are there any good spots for bass around that area in Riffe Lake?

I was there 5/25, I wasn't fishing for trout, but if you haven't tried fishing the Silvers that are in there, they eat a lot better than trout IMO. I have caught some nice bronzies in there too using a jig.

Yeah I also meant the silvers too, just didn't feel like mentioning them and the trout haha. We went there last year and caught 3 that were about 19" one day, so we wanted to see if it was worth it to drive down there again or if they weren't really picking up the larger fish.

The bite is on. I seen some guy at Mossyrock of the bank lose a gorgeous Silver that easily was over 24 inches. I wasn't fishing for smallies, but might call in sick friday to do so. lol-
I will say the ones we did catch (Silvers) were smaller than the ones we caught last year memorial weekend. Our biggest was 12 inches and last year the smallest was 15.
Let me know how you do.

Hey jens, I've been wanting to get out to riffe also. Never fished it, but it's on my list of lakes to try. Care to mention what part of the lake and what methods , depths, etc. to fish for the silvers?

Well we went today on the boat, it wasn't very good. Every other boater we talked to didn't do well either, the best we talked to had 3 fish that were like 11 inches for 4 guys. I guess someone said they lowered some water into the lake and the lake rose about 4 inches or so overnight so that might've been the problem.

I don't know what is up with the size- Like I said, last year Memorial weekend, the smallest we caught was 15 inches..this is a good lake. Big smallies in here too.
