Luckiest bait/lures?

Everybody here fishes for bass (hence the name of the forum), and we all certainly have our favorite lures or baits. Now, what bait do you use and favor? For multi-rigging or multi-color baits like senkos, what rigging style and color do you prefer? This thread is both for fun and the sake of sharing it with others, and so beginners at the sport of "Bassing" can get an idea of what to look for at their tackle shop!

I, personally, tend to use senkos mainly. Watermelon and black-blue. Texas or Wacky style rigged. Sometimes rapalas find their way onto my line, though.

senkos work much better with no weight. let them do the work. like your color choices, those are good ones.

I like to use jointed rapalas j-9 or j-11 for bass twitched or used as a wake bait.

I am right along with you crankbait42 with the jointed raps and Black and blue jig is also one of my go to baits.

I have techniques I like and favorite baits for those techniques. Senkos 5 in - smoke blk/purple flake, 4 in - smoke with black flake, white, green and white...4/0 EWG on the 5 and 2/0 EWG on the 4, 5 inch grubs rigged weedless (t-style) Terminator spinnerbait..white/chart, pumpkin Baby Brush Hawg t-rigged, Zoom Horny Toad or Stanley Ribbit Frog, and dont let this get out...Yamamoto Swim Senko on a Gammie 3/0 1/16 oz weighted EWG hook. Watched a 6 lb fish inhale it on Sunday..not to mention two back to back over 5 another day

I'll throw in my fav's Pyre.....chart/shad lucky craft pointer 78DD, orange craw luhr jensen 1/4oz speedtrap, 3/8 oz strike king burner sexy shad, chartreuse shad sammy, spro bronzeye frog, and a lucky craft LV500 also in chart/shad. Usually have every one tied on to start the day out. For plastics, you just can't beat a 4 or 5" zoom green pumpkin lizard, on a light c-rig, or splitshot rig, and a brown sniper snub or bolt on a dropshot. I also throw the 3/8 - 1/2 oz football head with a yamamoto 176 or 221 spider grub. I throw lots of other stuff too, but those are my confidence baits!

Wow! I hope my bait choices don't inspire somone to go to the tackle shop tomorrow and buy all this stuff cause they could be in trouble when the wife sees the bill.

1/2 oz black and blue jig tipped with a black/blue craw trailer

Chartreuse or green/chart. tubes rigged texas or carolina are the go to rigs along with spinner baits.

I shot Muzzy's for years and made the switch to the Shuttle T's 2 years ago. They are flat nasty!

Personally I'm a fan of the Bowtech 101st Airborne or the Hoyt Trykon XL and Magnus Stinger Buzzcuts - LOL.

Otherwise, I like your list - and I have considered the Shuttle T's. Hmmm

I have seen some great lures posted here, and I only have one real comment.

A lure is just a tool, nothing more, nothing less. In-Fishermen use to preach their FLP method, Fish - Location - Presentation.

First, know your fish. A bass is not going to eat many insects once it gets to size, so know it's habits, it's life cycle, the preferred food in the system your fish - know the fish.

Additionally, it make little difference what lure you use if the Fish are not there, and 10% of the water holds 90% of the fish.

Finally, Presentation. That is where the lures come in. Bass can be caught on so many different lures, and so many different companies produce great lures, you need to determine what method or lure will get you to the depths you are targeting, with the best action for the occasion, and then the best coloration for the conditions.

Each and every lure or presentation given to you will work, and has worked for me very well, at times. But no lure or method or presentation will work every time at all locations.

In short, consider the above list a great start, but if you are new, try getting one of the guys giving the list a PM and setting up a trip. A few hours on the water with any of these guys will get you much farther then hours reading magazine articles or watching You Tube videos. Of course, you can't fish all the time, and the articles and videos are great as well.

Here Here. There isn't a bait on any of these lists that won't work if fished correctly at the right times and places! I have learned more in the backseat of some great tournament fishemen than all of my trial and error days combined

Rapala X-Rap in silver/blue. Hands down for me.....the most productive lure for lmb and smallies,on
several different waters.

Well, I'm still pretty new to Bass fishing, but slipping a senko on wacky or texas rigged seems get to quantity fish, but not necessarliy quality...I typically fish this way when it's lunch time in the boat...But I have become a fan of spinners and crankbaits...those have produced some hefty bass for me...
