Fair, reliable boat shop/mechanic?

I'm looking for a decent outboard mechanic that can tune my johnson 90hp motor on my bass boat. I live in Spanaway and would prefer someone semi-local. Does anyone have any experience with boat shops near Spanaway/Tacoma? Anyone to avoid? What is a reasonable shop rate? Thanks in advance.

W Washington has about the highest shop rates in the nation, anything under $90 per hour is a good price.

Hilton Outboard in Tacoma is pretty good

Well, I'm going to go to Silver Lake (cowlitz) for the weekend and see how it behaves. It did good the last time it was out. I was thinking of going to Angler's Marine here in spanaway, they charge $92/hr. Quoted one hour for full engine diagnostics. Not sure what they'd charge to service my carbs. I may just do it myself.

Being a two stoke I recommend a couple of things if you think its the carbs. 1 get fresh gas, and put some stabil in the treat the older gas. 2) Get a bottle of Yamaha "Ring Free" it is expensive ($15) but a bottle will last you a year it cleans your reeds and ring from oil disposit and prevents them from sticking. While your at it, buy the hottest NGK plugs recommeded for you engine. On 2 stokes 99% of problems are gas related
