Carrying a gun while fishing?
Re: Carrying a gun while fishing?
I carry frequently. Have a few pistols at the ready at home, always bring one with me in my truck, and always have one with me in the field whether wading or boating. Don't OC much but do CC, have had my permit for about 2 years now. Never had any need to reach for it, but I am always glad it is there and I am prepared. More worried about animals than people, but you never do know these days when some crazy ahole is going to start acting all goofy and making irrational decisions willy nilly.

Also, unless you're willing to practice "immediate action" drills (failure to feed, failure to extract) stay away from semiautos and stick with a revolver that pretty much goes bang every time you pull the trigger. Just my .02 from 27 years on S.P.D.
To Add to this "Snap Caps"(<= google search them) are and should be a good friend! When going through training drills Fail to feeds AkA F2F you will want to work on those. Basiclly they are dud bullets that are red and you can pull the trigger with out worry about the firearm having Issues IE fireing pin! roll pins ect...
I am not a Wheel gun Fan as for my go to firearm... but they are still good firearms and most cases do go bang when the trigger is pulled also... Quality is what you want to look for doesn't have to be a 1000 dollar friearm either. Pleanty of great choices in the 400-600 range...
I reload all my own ammo and i still have one out of a few hundred rounds mostly due to my error not sizing the Brass correctly. but thats a different topic....
