Guides on the westside

Post by Mossy » Thu Mar 24, 2011 10:31 am

My buddy is trying to book a charter in August for my bachelor party weekend. We will most likely be staying in Seattle but are willing to drive. I'm not experienced in saltwater so I'm looking for some guide recommendations, where to go, what will be open. The 6 of us were hoping for a mixed bag to take home.

In August a "mixed bag" of fish in the Seattle area isn't going to happen. Rock fish are off limits. Ling and halibut season will be closed by then. What you'll find open is salmon. Kings, some coho, and a ton of pinks. If you really want a mixed bag of fish you'll have to go west to Neah Bay.

I was looking around and came to that conclusion, salmon only. Thanks for the heads up

Here's the link to Sponsor Guides here at WA Lks. I Think I saw one at Neah Bay, I'll add one that we use at least once a year since my better half can't handle a smaller boat off of the coast. fishonfreedom.com Chuck is awesome! His schedule shows Aug 7 & 21 as combo.

Thanks for the heads up. It looks like time won't permit the drive to wesport for our trip. I guess now I'm looking for a guide in the seattle area. Will most guides throw out pots too?

No charter service that I know of will put out crab pots. The crab season(s) are so short that there is not enough financial return to justify their investment.

There are Charters in Puget Sound who will put out crab pots when crab is open.
We do in the winter season when we return from Neah Bay. I know of others who will
in August. Good luck on your trip.
