Well, we did it. We set out to catch a tiger trout and we succeeded. We arrived at the lake at 9:30 as others were already pulling off. The sun was shining, air temp. mid 40's, steady breeze, water temp. 43-45. My son Jeremy, his buddy Riley & I all caught fish. Jeremy C&Rd the first rainbow to get us off to a good start. He caught it on a red & black woolly bugger he tied himself.(First fish ever on his own tying!) We were running woolly buggers behind 1/16 Oz. worm sinkers & an action disk. Then Riley hooks into a 16" Tiger Trout. Jeremy was proud of his buddy & so was I. After all thats what we were looking for. We zigged and zagged the shoreline. We fished the middle and both ends. The action would come and go. As did the wind. We lost as many as we caught & had that many more hits. We ended the day with 3 Tiger & 10 rainbow. All the trout were caught on wolly buggers in olive, red W/black hackle & brown with grizzly hackle. We did try unsuccesfully for spiny ray. We tried worms & jigs for a little while without even a bump. The boys had agreat time. It was Rileys first time to limit on trout. Jeremys first time to catch a fish on a fly he tied. And the first Tiger Trout in our boat.
