The wife and I were over in Chelan for a vacation weekend and decided to hit up Roses for some Trout. I was hoping to tangle into one of the Tiger Trout that are in there, but ended up "settling" for some very nice Rainbows instead. We started fishing around 2:00 in the afternoon. This was the first time my wife had ever gone fishing, other than at a tiny trout pool during a church fair type of event. So once I got her going on the basics and practicing her casting I proceeded to try a number of silver and gold Kastmasters and spoons, all to no luck. I eventually switched over to a size 7 countdown Rapala in Rainbow Trout pattern that I had purposefully picked up that day for enticing a Tiger. Well, one or two casts in I didn't get a Tiger, but I did get a very spry Rainbow. First fish of the day. By this point I think I had set up my wife with rainbow Powerbait in Salmon egg scent and she ended up getting a bite and reeling in her very first "real" fish. It was great to see how excited she was.

I don't remember all of the details from there on, but we both eventually ended up using yellow garlic scented Powerbait and each caught two more within about an hour time frame for a total of six nice rainbows (with the sixth coming after I took the picture in the report and was packing up to leave). Neither of us limited, but it was still a lot of fun, and great to see my wife excited about fishing!

After heading out for some Lake Trout with Darrell and Dad's on Saturday morning (the next day), we went back to Roses that evening and got a few more bites on the yellow garlic Powerbait and on pink garlic Powereggs. My wife had something big on for just a minute that evening, based on how the pole was bending and the line coming off the reel, but I think that whatever was on there got tangled with something on the bottom. When I went to adjust the drag for her there was nothing but solid pressure. All fishing for both days was on the southwest bank near the boat launch.

Anyway, we had a great time at the lake and will definitely considering going again when we are in town next.

Most likely a catfish. There are some big ones in Roses & people do target them. I got one that was 7lbs while using a wedding ring & worms.

Yea, I figured that maybe it was a catfish as well. I have seen that there are some big ones in there.

Nice looking rainbows for Roses, If you went and tried those kasmasters up at Antilon you would tangle with some decent browns... just sayin if you are looking for some variety!

Awesome, thanks for the suggestion Fishman, I would love to tangle with some Browns. I'll keep that in mind.
